Jerry C. Liu

Jerry C. Liu was admitted to the Georgia State Bar in 1999. He has also been registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office since 2000. Jerry is a 1999 honor graduate of Emory law school, where he received a full scholarship.  In addition to earning a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering degree with Honor in 1994 while working for Georgia Power Company’s Power Delivery and Information Technology departments, Jerry also obtained an M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Georgia Tech in 1996 on a graduate teaching assistantship.

Prior to joining the firm, Jerry served as Senior Counsel at ARRIS International plc, a Fortune 500 technology company, where his responsibilities included developing and directing patent litigation strategy, managing outside counsel, advising senior management, drafting discovery responses, providing patent litigation support, and drafting and procuring patents. Before ARRIS, Jerry was a Director of Patent Development at AT&T, and in that capacity he managed and developed patent portfolios having 1,000+ patent assets in multiple technology areas. Jerry’s experience also includes practicing law at a large general practice firm and another IP boutique, where he not only engaged in all aspects of litigation, litigation management, and litigation support, but also helped companies of all stages and sizes obtain patents and counseled them on their patent and business strategy.

Jerry also serves as an adjunct professor for Georgia Tech’s School of Public Policy, where he has taught Technology Law, Policy, and Management since 2002.

Jerry is a named inventor on twenty-two issued U.S. patents, and his presentations and publications include:
