Dev Narasimhan

Dev Narasimhan practices in the area of patent application preparation and prosecution, invention counseling, infringement analysis, and patent portfolio development. Dev has experience in the technology areas of medical devices, consumer products, additive manufacturing (3D-printing), software-enabled design processes, athletic/health monitoring, and manufacturing.

Prior to joining Amin, Turocy and Watson, Dev was patent counsel for a global consumer products corporation, where he managed outside counsel in preparing and prosecuting patent applications in the US and international jurisdictions. Furthermore, he advised internal and external stakeholders in developing utility and design patent portfolios and long-term patent strategies for key technologies. Dev also counseled inventors on their inventions, including providing advice on patentability and freedom-to-operate of explorations. Prior to that, he was a patent searcher for a patent search firm where he performed searches for both commercial clients and for the USPTO. There he conducted patentability, validity, and freedom-to-operate searches in biotechnology, medical devices, and consumer products. Prior to law school, Dev completed internships at Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago and Baxter Healthcare, where he worked in neuromechanics and cellular research, respectively. During law school, Dev completed internships and externships at the US Department of Energy, LaPorte County Superior Court No. 1, and two intellectual property firms.

Dev is also a volunteer, having been part of service since he received his Eagle Scout Award. Dev volunteered as a coach for Parkrose High School’s Mock Trial team and recently as a pro bono attorney for Northwest Immigrant Rights Project.

Dev is a member of the South Asian Bar Association – Washington and the Washington State Patent Law Association. Dev is licensed to practice in the state of Georgia and before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. When he is not working, Dev likes to ski, play soccer, swim, hike, and mountain bike in the Pacific Northwest.
