Richard Bradley Almon

Richard B. Almon is admitted to the Virginia, Maryland, and District of Columbia bars and is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He received his law degree from the George Washington University Law School, where he was on the George Washington Law Review, the Moot Court Board, and the editor of the GW Law Bulletin of Law, Science, and Technology. He has a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of Maryland, University College.

Richard has over ten years of IP experience, including both patent preparation and prosecution, and patent litigation. He has broad technical expertise in drafting and prosecuting patent applications in software and electrical technologies. For example, he has experience drafting and prosecuting applications involving: 5G wireless technologies, artificial intelligence, social media, cloud computing, medical devices, quantum computing, microprocessors, semiconductors, logic circuitry, wearable devices, and AR/VR devices. Richard has been recognized for his success handling issues of subject-matter eligibility under 35 U.S. C. § 101, both at the drafting and prosecution stages.

His litigation experience includes complex patent litigation before federal district courts and the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC). He has lead claim constructions, drafted extensive invalidity and claim-construction charts, and assisted with expert analysis of technical evidence, including the reading and interpreting of software source code. Prior to his legal experience, he served as a systems engineer, a coding instructor, database administrator, and courseware developer, specializing in development of software applications using Java, C++, web services and other object-oriented programming technologies.
