Thomas E. Watson 於 1999 年取得紐約州律師資格、1999 年取得賓夕法尼亞州律師資格，並於 2004 年取得華盛頓州律師資格。他自 1998 年起亦登錄於美國專利商標局執業。他於 1995 年自 Princeton University 取得電機工程理學士學位（cum laude），並於 1998 年自 Columbia University Law School 取得法律博士（Juris Doctor）學位。
除服務多元的客戶群外，Tom 亦曾多次以「虛擬內部法律顧問」的身分與特定客戶密切合作，支援客戶內部的第一線專利規劃團隊以及企業標準與策略團隊，因而累積了寶貴的企業內部視角。他的客戶從新創公司到 Fortune 100 大企業均有，而 Tom 的業務主要著重於專利諮詢顧問，包括專利取得、專利組合建置、風險管理（例如不侵權分析、無效性評估、正式法律意見的撰擬與簡報、併購分析／盡職調查、他方專利組合分析等）、授權，以及產業標準參與事務。
Tom 的技術專業涵蓋廣泛的技術領域，包括軟體設計、無線技術、網路、工業控制、程式設計典範、電腦硬體、晶片次層級設計、遊戲平台與周邊設備、高等數學、加密、訊號處理、網頁相關發明、使用者介面、通訊協定、軟體 API 與硬體介面，以及類比與數位電路設計。
Tom 是 New York Bar Association、Pennsylvania Bar Association、Washington Bar Association、American Intellectual Property Law Association 及 Washington State Patent Law Association 的會員。
